The 100th anniversary of the birth of Swiss-Hungarian pianist Géza Anda is celebrated this November. To mark the occasion, the Géza Anda Foundation of Zurich is staging a variety of events for Budapest audiences. A remarkable film made in 1966 on the artist’s life and work is being screened within the framework of the Budapest Classics Film Marathon organized under the aegis of the Hungarian National Film Institute. After the film, Dénes Várjon, the sole Hungarian winner of the Géza Anda Piano Competition staged in Zurich every three years, gives a short recital in the French Institute. This November we can once again come across the name of Géza Anda in Budapest, this time at the Liszt Academy. Kamara.hu commemorates the brilliant pianist who was born a century ago with a recital of Mozart piano concertos.
