The music of this film, composed by François de Roubaix, was a tune whistled by many atthe time. Two good friends, Manu and Roland, are obsessed with speed and moderntechnology. Roland is into drag racing while Manu is a pilot. One day, Laetitia appears inthe garage, or rather, in the life of the two men (as well as in the film’s theme). She is anartist who builds abstract statues from scrap metal and succeeds in turning the lives ofthese two apparently self-confident, confirmed machos upside-down. Her appearancebrings calamity along with it. As the adventurers believe that the only solution is to gohunting for treasure, they set sail for the Congo in their schooner. The Last Adventure ismore of a melodrama than an adventure film, since the ending anything but happy. Whatmakes this film great is the interplay between the three main characters, portrayed by Alain Delon, Lino Ventura and Joanna Shimkus.
