In the heroic age of the Western the villain always wore a black hat to differentiate him from the ‘goodie’ wearing a white Stetson. In the ruthlessly political trend launched by social injustices and as protest against capital power bases, in the spaghetti Western, the roles aresimilarly absolutely clear, but in these films the bad dude is mostly the person who want seven more dollars than a fistful than those who hold power. The swindlers. The Ugly can pull the trigger quickly, but the Bad is capable of gunning down a father in front of his child. Music is an integral part, indeed a trademark, of Sergio Leone, the most important figure in the genre. Ennio Morricone, the hugely productive film composer, was truly in his element when he had to write music for Leone.
