The first Hungarian rock opera film takes an unusual approach to the story of the foundation of the Hungarian state, King Stephen and the pagan Koppány. The rock opera featuring music by Levente Szörényi and János Bródy and acting from the biggest rock stars of the day was a mega hit when it first played at Királydomb in 1983. The film is the animated versionof this performance depicted with pop-art effects, where the editing is showman rock initself. A huge cult developed around Stephen, the King, and there have been countless performances since then, but this first was the most successful.
