Plot
Sixteen years ago, the wife of Bálint Farkas left her husband, taking their 2-year-old daughter, Marika. The woman’s passion for dance tore her away from the slow pace of rural life. In America, she achieves considerable success as a dancer but suffers from homesickness to the end of her life. On her death, at her request her manager escorts Marika back to her father. The girl falls in love with Péter Túróczy, her father’s bailiff, and although evil intrigues are employed to persuade her to leave her lover for the sake of dancing, she remains on the estate.
